F.A.M.A. (Free Artist Mutual Aid) announced today that it will be hosting:

THE FIRST FREE INTERNATIONAL ART SHOW SWAP AND SHARING IN THE WORLD,
between RENO (USA) and ZURICH (Switzerland), during an Art show, event / demonstration on May 1st, 2014, starting at 5:00 pm, at the Liberty Fine Art Gallery, located 100 West Liberty Street in Reno.

F.A.M.A. Is an international free organization offering for the 1st time in the world, a unique concept, based on mutual aid, generosity and sharing.
The purpose of the concept is : give the opportunity to artists all around the world, to share their art shows, and gain a real international exposure.
F.A.M.A. can be considered as the first REAL INTERNATIONAL ARTIST FRATERNITY.
During this event : An Artist from Switzerland, Caro Buhler,will share Stephane Cellier's Art show (a French Artist leaving in Virginia City – NV), and their art works will be displayed together.

The Swiss artist will be able to be present at the event, through a webcam, and will answer to all the visitors questions.

The purpose of this event is :
1)- bring to local artists the opportunity to gain a real international exposure for free. And also generate a real sense of unity between the local and international community of artists.
2)- Make Reno the pioneer and leader of this new International Unique concept, and help Reno to be recognized as a city internationally involved in art.
3)- Show to the community how this new concept works, and how it will benefit for everybody, bringing to the community the opportunity to discover thousands of talented international artists, in artshows always more surprising and interesting.

Families are encouraged to come by and enjoy this event based on camaraderie . During this event, visitors will also discover the artworks of the talented permanent and guest artists of the Liberty Fine Art Gallery.

We all have, one day, encounter one of these people, who encumber our opening receptions, judging, analyzing, comparing our works, drinking our champagne and eating our food! You know the ones who think they have an innate ability to be a reference in art matters, and who entitle themselves "ART CRITICS".

I don't mean the art journalists, who do a great job covering our exhibits, writing our biography, and who can be proud to do a real information job.

No, I mean the "art critics". Those who think they can tell who is good and who is not, and always give their opinion even if nobody cares about what they think.

Why, one day, these people who have never been able to create even one little artwork, decide to become an art critic, is one of the most unsolved mystery of the human nature. Lots of famous international scientists considered that non sense, and they came out with only one possible explanation : a syndrome called G.I.B.S.E. (Genetic imbalance between skills and ego) !

Even if I have to admit that it is usually quite fun to listen to them theorizing about our work, describing it with words more appropriated in a psychology book than in an art gallery, and looking for a meaning our sick brain of artist could have unconsciously hidden; we shouldn't forget something critical : they can be DANGEROUS !

Yes, with some words published in a newspaper, they can built or ruin someone career, depending on their mood that day.

That's why, a long time ago, a French Artist, named Roland Dorgelès, tired of being considered as a bad painter, by the snobbish Parisian Art Critics, had a strange idea :

March 8, 1910, Roland Dorgelès borrows, Lolo, a very friendly Donkey, owned by Frédéric Gérard , called " the father Frédé ", who was the keeper of a cabaret in "Montmartre", le Lapin Agile. (Montmartre is the Parisian quarter, where lots of painters and artists leaved and still leaves, even now) .

In the presence of a bailiff , Maitre Brionne, Dorgelès commissioned a painting by Lolo the donkey on whose tail was attached a brush. Whenever they gave the donkey a carrot it frantically wagged his tail, applying paint on canvas.

Since, 1884, an art exhibition, named "Salon des Independants", takes place every year in Paris, and aims to bring together the works of all artists claiming a degree of independence in their art. So, in 1910, in room 22 of the "Salon des Independants", the public , the critics and the press discovered a artwork (painting) entitled "And the sun fell asleep on the Adriatic", awarded to a young Italian painter whom nobody has ever heard : Joachim Raphael Boronali. The Journalists and art critics promptly renamed this painting " Sunset on Adriatic" .

A manifest, written by this unknown but intriguing Italian Artist, in which he explained his new art movement. , was made available to the press and especially the art critics.
The document has made this Artist even more intriguing and sharpened the curiosity of everybody.
The content of this document was approximately like that :
"Oh! Excessive great painters, my brothers. Oh! brushes renovators. Let's break those archaic palette and let's create the principles of tomorrow's painting. Our formula will be the excessivism. Excess in art is a force. The sun is never too ardent, the sky never too green, and the sea too red. Make place to the genius of glare! Let's devastate museums, and trample on routines. Let's make a bonfire with the masterpieces. Don't let us be moved by the yelping of the skinned ferret who are dying under the dome.... lets live scarlet and purple! All our streams of blood to recolor faded auroras! Warm up the art in the embrace of our smoking arm!"

BIZARRE ! Isn't it?

So, after that exhibition, everybody wanted to meet this new mysterious Italian Artist, and especially the journalists and art critics, praising unanimously his incredible talent.

But, the painter stayed hidden during several weeks!

And Finally, the Director of a famous French Newspaper, "l'illustration", was visited by Dorgeles, and his best friend ...Lolo, the Donkey!

Dorgelès stated that the artwork, called "And the sun fell asleep on the Adriatic" was just a hoax, and brought a certificate from the bailiff to prove it . He revealed that the painter was Lolo the donkey, and also showed a picture of the donkey on whose tail was set a brush that applied color on the famous canvas. Dorgelès noted the Director, that the name "Boronali" is an anagram of Aliboron, the name of Buridan's donkey which finally died, after hesitating between food and water, unable to make a decision!

Dorgelès explained his motivation like that: "Just to show to the simpletons, the vains and incapables who clutter most of the art shows, that according to them, the work of a donkey , brushed with its tail is not misplaced in an great art exhibit, sharing the space with "real" art works! "

The revelations, published by this famous newspaper, generated an earthquake in the artistic world.

Thanks to Dorgeles, and above all, Lolo's "talent", these famous Art critics, who thought they could decide who deserve to be successful, and who should stay unknown, enjoyed some of the treatments they subjected so many artists!
And, as you can see on the picture, this painting was a really beautiful "artwork", very modern, especially in 1910!

So, since that day, I hope they learned their lesson : NOBODY CAN JUDGE ART!
Art is art, only in the eye of the one who's watching it. The emotions we feel, in front of an artwork, are different for each of us. And, even if you don't like it, it's still art!!!!
Thanks god, this kind of people, whose only talent is to become famous at the expense of hard working artists, is an endangered specie. and the only one we will not miss!

Fortunately, now, most of them have been replaced by real art journalists, skilled, and passionate. But my friends artists, keep your eyes open, some of them are still haunting our receptions. And if you see one of them...just remember Lolo's story, and IGNORE HIM.

He need's you to be important...you don't!

The painter and sculptor André Maillos bought that canvas for 20 louis (400 gold francs , equivalent to € 3,500 in 2013 ) . Dorgelès reverse the money to the "orphanage of Arts" . In 1953 , the art collector Paul Bédu bought the painting. Since it is exposed to the cultural space Paul Bédu at Milly la Forêt (near Paris)..

According to writer Robert Bruce, after the death of "father Frede" , Lolo's owner, the donkey was placed in another Family in Normandy. Sadly, Lolo was found drowned in a pond. The people who knew the donkey thought that Lolo commited suicide, unable to bear the loss of his loving owner.

F.A.M.A. stands for FREE ARTIST MUTUAL AID. FAMA translated from Latin means "CELEBRITY " . Because the sole purpose of FAMA is to help each and every artist around the world to achieve the maximum exposure and potential, they can also expect the due recognition for their hard-earned talents.
In fact, FAMA is a place where artists help other artists, without any other consideration to be helped in return, because it's all about helping one another!
You could say that FAMA is a kind of worldwide fraternity of artists uniting their strengths for the benefit of all.
FAMA has been designed by artists, who like you, have lived all these doubts , all these joys, but also the immense disappointments that mark the life of an artist. This is why FAMA is perfectly suited to the needs of the artist , and can bring you the opportunity to change the course of your life.

Everybody knows that never worked !

“ But if you have no exhibit scheduled ,..how can you use FAMA ?”
NO PROBLEM , do not worry ! FAMA will give you all the information you need to help you find a gallery or a venue to hold an exhibition in your area . In addition , FAMA will regularly publish information to share our experiences with you. So you can learn how to create and promote your own successful show, for a minimal budget. As well as how to increase your local exposure and be followed by the local medias ... etc, etc. .
So, you will start to build your reputation as an artist and you can in addition invite other artists to participate in your exhibitions,...and they can do the same for you.
Thanks to FAMA , we get a " SNOWBALL EFFECT " !
Your local exhibition gives the opportunity to show your art everywhere on the planet.
This is why FAMA IS A UNIQUE CONCEPT .

Also,... if you can't afford to travel to another country, no problem!
You can organize the shipment of some of your art to the gallery, or another member.
Fama will explain how to set this up safely.

BUT THAT`S NOT ALL !

FAMA is also working to establish an " Artist exchange program " among art galleries around the world. Even the "smallest" galleries will enjoy it. So, if you have regular exhibits in a gallery, or are a member of a gallery, or an artists co-op , your gallery could liaise with other galleries around the world to invite foreign guest artists Thus, the galleries will boost their business and sales by offering ever more original and varied exhibitions. And of course you as artists will benefit from these exchanges.

In addition FAMA offers an online magazine , in which YOU can publish articles about your experiences , your doubts, your rants , your future exhibitions, or anything that is important to you and to the community of artists.
With this magazine you can also enrich your knowledge through the experiences of other artists.

In FAMA's website, each member can create a presentation page with a biography and photos of their work. Thus, all other members can find you, discover your work , as well as leave comments and reviews.

FAMA also works to create, with your help, future major international art events , in which all members can participate.

FAMA will even intervene, with your help also, in humanitarian and environmental causes. So the more members in the community, the greater the power. And at the same time, your exposure will become more and more important.

Aujourd'hui est un jour différent pour tous les artistes :
Depuis quelques heures, le rêve de tout artiste peut devenir réalité.
Et oui, depuis quelques heures seulement, tous les artistes du monde peuvent enfin acquérir une VRAIE NOTORIETE INTERNATIONALE.

Aujourd'hui, un nouveau concept a vu le jour. C'est un mouvememt artistique basé sur le partage, la générosite, l'échange et l'entraide.

Ce nouveau concept, TOTALEMENT UNIQUE, INEDIT et GRATUIT, s'appelle FAMA.

F.A.M.A. signifie FREE ARTIST MUTUAL AID. Mais FAMA, en Latin, signifie également “CELEBRITE”.

Voila comment ca marche :

Sur FAMA, vous trouverez des annonces d'artistes ayant prochainement une exposition et qui veulent partager ce show avec vous, en contrepartie du même partage de votre prochaine exposition.

“Mais, si je n'ai pas d'exposition prévue, je ne peux pas utiliser FAMA”, me direz vous?

PAS DE PROBLEME, ne vous inquiètez pas! FAMA vous donne toutes les informations pour vous aider à trouver une galerie ou un lieu pour organiser une exposition près de chez vous. En plus, FAMA va publier régulièrement des fiches d'information afin de vous faire partager nos expériences. Ainsi vous pourrez apprendre comment créer et promouvoir votre propre exposition, afin qu'elle soit un succès, et cela pour un budget minime. Ou même comment augmenter votre notoriété locale et être suivi par les médias locaux...etc etc.

Ainsi, vous commencerez à construire votre réputation d'artiste et vous pouvez, en plus inviter d'autres artistes à participer à vos expositions, qui feront de même avec vous.

Grace à FAMA, on obtient un “EFFET BOULE DE NEIGE”!

Et bien entendu, vous aussi, en tant qu'artistes, vous profiterez de ces echanges.

En plus FAMA met à votre disposition un magazine en ligne, dans lequel VOUS pouvez publier des articles, parler de vos expériences, vos doutes, vos coups de gueule, vos futures expositions, ou tout ce qui est important pour vous et pour la communaute des artistes.

F.A.M.A. wants to set up a real INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM OF ARTIST EXCHANGE BETWEEN GALLERIES.

Our goal is to give to the artist of each gallery the opportunity to have an exhibit in another country. And in return, the gallery will received international artists. By this way the activity of the gallery will be boosted, by offering ever more original and varied exhibits!
EVERY GALLERY CAN ALWAYS SURPRISE THEIR REGULAR VISITORS, WHO WILL LOOK FORWARD COMING TO SEE THE NEW SHOWS!
And at the same time it will help their artist to gain an international exposure.

Of course, every gallery owners are free to choose the artists they want to receive.
And also, each gallery affiliated to this free program, can organize exchange with as many other galleries as they want.

It's easy :
A gallery put an add (start a topic) in the category FREE INTERNATIONAL GALLERY EXCHANGE PROGRAM, to indicate to other galleries that some of its artists are interested in this program, including their name and some pictures of their work.
By this way, other galleries can pick up the artists they like and propose some exchanges with their own artists.
The EXCHANGE HAS TO BE TOTALLY FREE, it's a mutual aid! Because, of course, each gallery will take fees on the sale of this new artist's artwork
(IMPORTANT : the fees should be the same than for the permanent members of the gallery, to avoid any kind of discrimination).

Even if it's more interesting for the artists to be present at their shows, it's not required. Especially because international travels are very expensive. So it's possible to organize the shipment of their artworks with the gallery partner.
But that's not all : The galleries can also use an international free webcam system like SKYPE, or MSN, to allow the artists to be "virtually" present at their exhibit, and answer to the questions of the visitors, live, from their computer. It's free and what is needed is only a computer and internet!

And of course, EVERY GALLERY IS WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE TO THIS PROGRAM!
